Interview: Hybrid infrastructures
The opportunities of hybrid computing for SMEs
15 dicembre 2025
Cloud or local data centre? That’s a question that small and medium-sized enterprises shouldn’t even be asking themselves, says Thomas Jäggi, Managing Director IT Solutions Europe at Datwyler IT Infra, in our interview. IT managers should instead ask themselves how they can cleverly combine them to get the best from both worlds. The perfect combination is hybrid computing – a hybrid infrastructure.
“Hybrid computing ‒ when correctly implemented ‒ is a very efficient way of balancing out charges and costs without losing any security or flexibility,” Jäggi continues.
“Finally, though, applications and data should be kept wherever they can be best managed from a professional, technical and regulatory point of view. This might be in a public or private cloud or it might also be in a company’s own computing room or at the edge. There will then be an environment that is distributed but also interwoven and which, for users, should feel like a reliable, homogeneous platform. That is extremely attractive, especially for small and medium-sized companies.”
